When I was learning to drive, my dad insisted I learn how to drive a manual he told me: “If you can drive a manual, you can drive anything” That is how I view fashion color. If you can master fashion color you can color anything. Fashion color forces you to use the color wheel without relying on neutrals or pre-blended tones and colors. It forces you to become an artist & craft colors that don't exist in any box or tube.
Learning fashion color is the truest form of understanding the color wheel & what each color is capable of at every depth. While I made fashion color my specialty because I truly love it, it has also made me an all around better colorist. It has turned me into a blonding expert, a correction specialist & an artist who thinks outside of the box so I can always deliver unique looks for the clients in my chair.

These are fact finding missions for stylists, to find out what lies underneath. If you don't know the right questions to ask you are not going to get the information you need and stress will be something you experience often behind the chair. Leaving you wondering where you went wrong in your formulation.
Telling clients "no" is one of my favorite things to do & I do it with arrogance + confidence. I do it because I know what I'm talking about, my education and experience has allowed me to say no but also afforded me the knowledge to be able to offer other options as a replacement.
So while yes, the right questions are important. What's even more important is your understanding of color theory so you know when to say "NO".
